Grand Canyon University Adds Masters Program Christian Studies Added to Growing Liberal Arts Curriculum

PHOENIX, July 15 /Christian Newswire/ -- To help professionals who are pursuing a higher calling, Grand Canyon University (GCU) is introducing a master of arts degree in Christian studies to enhance communications, leadership and organizational skills that are essential building blocks for a strong ministry.

"With our Christian foundation and advanced online curricula, we're the ideal institution for those who are in Christian outreach to take their ministry to the next level," said GCU Dean of College of Liberal Arts Lisa St. Louis. "A masters program enables us to offer our students - many whom are working professionals located throughout the country - a way to do this through strong online curricula."

GCU has a well-established undergraduate program in Christian studies, and incorporates Christian principles into many of its other degree programs. The University's course offerings in youth, urban and intercultural ministry are relevant to the real-world challenges faced by pastors and other Christian community leaders today.

"Many of our students have been asking for a master's level program in Christian studies, and with our rich history the advanced program is a natural progression for us," St. Louis said.

GCU's Master of Arts in Christian Studies will utilize biblical studies as the foundation, and an understanding of theology, philosophy and Christian history as the framework for communicating Christ to various audiences. Students will build their communications, leadership and organizational skills in order to enhance their ministry. The degree will be offered as an online program beginning with the fall 2009 semester.
