With Digital Shift Complete, TBN Viewers Make Big Gains with Sharper Pictures, More Faith and Family-Friendly Channel Options

LOS ANGELES, July 1 /Christian Newswire/ -- The last several months have been a busy time for nearly everyone at Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN), as the world's largest religious broadcaster has put the finishing touches on the shift to digital broadcasting for all 35 of its full- power TV stations in the United States. While that shift was officially completed on June 12th, when the federal government mandated the nationwide transition from analog to digital, TBN's engineers had actually been working diligently not only to keep the network ahead of the curve, but to enable the bulk of TBN's stations nationwide to multicast five of its most popular channels.

The five channels, which are currently being multicast in more than 30 U.S. markets, include TBN's flagship channel, the most watched and most requested faith- based channel in the nation; Smile of a Child, for children 2-12; JCTV, for young adults 13-29; the Church Channel, featuring many of the top inspirational authors and speakers in the U.S.; and TBN Enlace USA, offering the best of faith programming from Latin America and the U.S., all in Spanish.

"The digital switch has revolutionized television and given viewers a richer experience in nearly every way," explained Paul Crouch Jr., TBN's Chief of Staff. "For our viewers who watch over the air, it means they can see TBN programs and channels more clearly, and they also have more viewing options through the multicasting feature that digital broadcast allows."

Crouch noted that over the past several years, as TBN has designed its studios and broadcast dynamics around the emerging digital revolution, the result has been an increasingly rich source of inspirational, family-friendly programming for all age groups and demographics. "Our goal at TBN has always been to inspire, challenge, educate, entertain, and engage individuals with the highest quality television for the vast faith community across the nation and around the world," said Crouch. "We've done that well for over 35 years, and as this new era in television comes of age, we feel confident that TBN will continue to lead the way."
